Spelling Crowns

As part of our approach to teaching spelling, pupils are encouraged to say words in the Queen’s English. This is referred to as ‘Crown Time’. We stretch out the words to help identify the sounds.

Today we were set a STEM challenge to make a crown. The children used their measuring, design and engineering skills to create their very own crowns. Check out their work…

Glasgow Science Centre - Curious about our planet.

This week we have been lucky enough to join in on different live lessons hosted by Glasgow Science Centre.  Some of these included :

Saving our Scottish Seas

Climate Change from Space

Weather and Climate Change with the delightful Heather Reid (Heather with the Weather)

and even looking at Scotland's Tidal Energy

The lessons consisted of a presentation from each speaker followed by a live question and answer session with each.  We learned lots of new fascinating facts and are even more determined to save our Planet.

Maths Week Scotland

Primary 6/5 and Primary 6 are on an Intergalactic Space Adventure during Maths Week Scotland!

We  are learning to measure accurately using measuring tapes. We used our problem-solving skills to place items on cargo in the hold with bonus point if you can ensure no similar coloured luggage is touching! It really had us scratching our heads!

We have been code cracking to work out who has been tampering with our equipment! We have been helping clear the ocean by following mathematical instructions to solve the problem.

During the next few days we will be re-building the logo that has smashed into lots of mathematical shapes. Use our problem solving skills to get all spaceship personnel safely across a river. However, the rules are very specific, so we really will have to think about our next move.

We are having a fabulous time on our Intergalactic Space Adventure!
